As part of the refurbishment and extension of Oxford Castle, a former prison, the existing listed buildings have been turned into a luxury hotel, residential and leisure complex, with bars, restaurants, galleries and apartments alongside a museum and visitor centre.
Malmaison hotel is a historic building where the prison cells have been converted into contemporary bedrooms retaining existing features such as the heavy metal entrance doors.
We were responsible for the illumination of all internal public spaces, including the lobby, atrium and circulation areas as well as the external lighting of the site and building façade. The project received numerous Architecture and Civic Awards.
