As part of a bigger refurbishment plan with a clear vision to improve the retail experience for its Merry Hill customers, Intu appointed our team with the technical specification and design oversight of a dynamic light sculpture.
The brief was to produce a centre piece for one of the main atriums of Merry Hill’s shopping centre to resemble molten metal; a remanence and tribute to the former Steelworks that were located on the site where Intu Merry Hill now stands.
The aim was to create a destination that attracts visitors by enhancing the character of the space whilst avoiding visual clutter. Creating a simple structure which unifies the atrium with a subtle, yet dynamic lighting display responsive to retailers and other tenants’ day to day interactions.
