Equation was commissioned to produce the “Lighting Design in Stations” design manual on behalf of Network Rail. This new guide is part of the Network Rail design manuals library, providing comprehensive, structured guidelines that illustrate best practice in lighting design, benchmarked against industry standards, and highlighting paths for all stakeholders involved in the provision of lighting in railways stations to achieve optimal outcomes. By applying a consistent lighting methodology across various project types—whether it’s lighting replacement at the end of service life, station refurbishment, restoration, or new-build projects—this new guidance document seeks to solidify a clear and consistent Network Rail design identity with a customer-centred approach to lighting design in stations.
