#DesignProcess | Why Mock-Ups Matter
At EQUATION Lighting Design, mock-up testing is an essential element of our design process.

Whether on-site or in controlled environments that replicate real conditions, mock-ups give us a chance to see how light truly interacts with space, materials, and architecture. They allow us to test luminaires, fine-tune visual comfort, and confirm that every technical detail supports the wider design intent.

This process strengthens our collaboration with architects and project designers, and often across the entire project team as well, giving confidence in innovative ideas.

Even when direct site access is limited, we recreate the context in our studio wherever possible. Observing lighting principles in practice helps us refine ideas, validate decisions, and ensure that our concept’s final outcome will perform, visually, technically, and experientially.
