Completed Project | King & Spalding, London

#NewProject

We are super pleased to present our latest work as lighting consultants: the completion of the workplace fitout across levels 27-31 of award winning 8 Bishopsgate tower, London. This project showcases the power of light in shaping space, creating an inviting and comfortable, yet functional workplace environment.

Our lighting strategy was centred on crafting a people focused ambiance that elevates the architecture through carefully considered light. We achieved this by blending indirect ambient light sources, artfully concealed in overlapping ceiling coves, with low-glare downlighting and custom pendants that echo the curved joinery elements arranged concentrically around a striking helical staircase.

One of the key features of this design is the interplay between ambient lighting from ceiling coves and bespoke linear lighting seamlessly integrated into the handrail. This thoughtful combination complements the beautiful stair forms, creating a captivating central sculptural piece while providing soft diffused illumination to steps and people’s faces.

In addition, high-output linear grazers concealed in curved ceiling edge coves provide a discreet source of precisely focused illumination to sustain the life of indoor planting without overpowering the hospitality look and feel of these key spaces within our client’s workplace.

Light has an extraordinary ability to enhance architecture and materiality, transforming spaces and elevating the experience of the users of the space. We are immensely proud to have been part of the King and Spalding’s London office project and extend our congratulations to all the amazing teams that contributed to this great project!
