Deloitte HQ Link Bridge Project Wins NLB Tesla Award
Our lighting design for the Deloitte Headquarters Link Bridges project has once again received industry recognition and been awarded a National Lighting Bureau Tesla Award.
The Tesla Awards were created to honour projects that provide lighting to promote human performance, health, safety, and commerce. This project was chosen as a best in practice example of lighting design showcasing the value of lighting and the importance of collaboration.
New Street Square Bridges play a key part in the expansion of Deloitte’s Central London Headquarters by linking Nos. 1 and 2 New Street Square. The bridges connect important client facing areas on the first floors of each building and staff spaces such as the 7th floor main restaurant.
The Link Bridges have created new spaces for both buildings, which promote the health and wellbeing of users by encouraging direct interaction between occupiers of both buildings and making existing staff and amenity areas accessible to everyone. The creation of visual comfort, visual interest and the avoidance of light pollution were key objectives at the outset and were successfully embedded in the completed project.
Visually stimulating spaces were created to encourage users to dwell longer and make use of the bridges for informal meetings and social interaction. Visual comfort combined with low energy use were key considerations from the outset.
The lighting strategy sought to reveal and enhance the sculptural form of the ramps, steps, and integrated seating elements without compromising panoramic views out into the city after dark.
An in-depth interview about this project featuring our Managing Director, Maida Hot, will be available soon…
