Last week, the EQUATION Lighting Design team was on site at the Grade II listed 41 Lothbury, carrying out a survey of the recently exposed riveted steel columns that rise through the building’s impressive six-storey atrium.

As part of the Addleshaw Goddard fit out currently under construction, our scope includes the uplighting of all 48 columns, each one unique in form and finish. The lighting will be installed at a close offset, carefully designed to reveal the texture and character of these historic structural elements while respecting the architectural integrity of the space.

Being on site at this early stage is essential to understanding the materiality and variation across the columns, allowing us to refine our detailing and ensure the lighting approach remains both sensitive and effective.
